Who am I?
Hi, my name is Neyu! I’m an adventurous woman, a passionate traveller who loves meeting new people, learning and living new experiences in life.
I’m a spiritual person and I lead a healthy life, both physically and mentally. I enjoy practicing all kinds of physical activities, specially outside in contact with the nature. I’m a former gymnast and now my passion is Yoga.
Bachelor’s Degree in Sports and Exercise Science
Degree in Elementary Teacher Training
Master’s in High School Teacher Training
Certified National Gymnastic Coach
Certified Yoga Instructor
I was born in Menorca, a tiny gorgeous island in the Mediterranean sea. I’ve always been very curious, active, wild, happy and passionate about life. I spent my childhood on my bare feet running through the fields and climbing trees. I was always ready to take on new adventures, both on my own or along with my brothers.
I tried some extra curricular activities, but I didn’t feel very comfortable with following orders. I always preferred learning by myself through direct experience.
At the age of 10 I decided trying rhythmic gymnastics. I’m so glad I did it because this sport became a pillar in my life! From the very first day I saw I had skills with the gymnastic exercises. I found my passion! I enjoyed practicing, learning and improving day after day.
When I was 16 an injury ended my dream. At first I felt lost; I had focused all of my energy on gymnastics and it was all I knew. I decided to continue my commitment to this sport in a different way, as a coach. That summer I went to Torrevieja (Spain) to take a Coach Gymnastics Training Course, and at the age of 18 I went to Barcelona to study the Sciences of the Physical Education and Sport.
From that point on, I’ve been involved with physical exercises and health.
My entire family lives in Menorca. I’m the youngest in the house, and I would say the black sheep, as well.
My philosophy and lifestyle is absolutely different to theirs, but this doesn’t prevent us from loving each other so much. We are very close and we always help each other. My mother is my best friend, I admire her strength and the love she transmits to all her beloved ones.
Most of my best friends are from childhood and they still live in Menorca.
I also have a lot of friends in Barcelona, where I lived in my university years, and some other friends I met in my trips living in different parts of the world.
I am a very passionate person, I love learning and living new experiences.
Rhythmic gymnastics was my first passion and it taught me habits and values that shaped my life and personality. This sport requires a lot of discipline and dedication. I enjoyed it so much, both being an athlete and a coach.
When I left rhythmic gymnastics I decided to try some new sports. I love physical exercise, mostly outdoors. I’m open to new challenges and to proving myself.
Today Yoga is my greatest passion.
I also like photography. When I was a kid, I was always taking pictures nonstop. I’m not an expert in photography but I do like capturing moments and experiences to remember.
Reading and writing are activities I like doing when I need to relax. I like reading historical novels and writing about my experiences and feelings. During my childhood and teenage years I was a shy girl when it came to showing my feelings and emotions. I learned to use writing to get in touch with what was going on inside me.
I had my personal diary in which I wrote everyday, and another one that I shared with a gymnastics friend, where we wrote about our good and bad experiences while training and competing.
In my university years I didn’t write regularly, but then I got back to writing during my trip to Ethiopia, where I wrote a diary about my experiences which included photos about the trip.
My other passion is traveling, discovering the world, new cultures, people, etc. I always try to stay in a place for a period of at least one month to be able to immerse myself into the culture and learn from the locals.
