Cavalleria Lighthouse is located at the northernmost point of the island of Menorca in Cape Cavalleria, a very nice place to watch the sunset.
With 15 meters high, Cavalleria lighthouse is located about 94 meters above sea level, in one of the highest cliffs of the island.
The lighthouse was built in 1857 and retains almost its original structure intact.
The environment is rocky, wild and with little vegetation as a result of the Tramontana, the wind that blows in northern Menorca
From Es Mercadal, road access is very easy; just follow the signs.
Previously it was very common to find goats wandering around, but today you will hardly see them; in fact a couple of weeks ago when I went, I did not see even one…
Upon arrival, just few meters before the entrance of the lighthouse, you’ll see a small parking space; here you can leave your car for free.
In summer it is a fairly busy place, especially in August, so it’s hard to enjoy it in solitude, but the environment is nice, so I like to be there surrounded by people.
I have said this on several occasions, but I never get tired of repeating it; I love lighthouses and the ones in Menorca, are the best! LOL
Although many people choose to visit it during the day, I like to come before sunset, so I can enjoy seeing the sun going down.
It’s a magical moment!
But if you like to be in a lonely place, I recommend you go with time and explore around in search of a more secluded agglomeration spot.
Another recommendation, if you like exploring, is to walk to the Sanitja Tower, built in 1800.
If you are fond of night photography, here you can get a very good postcard-like photos. 🙂
And that’s all my friends.
Sweet Meddy Teddy and I encourage you to continue exploring the world.
There is so much beauty waiting out there!
Love and gratitude
