Queen’s Bath is a beautiful natural pool with crystal clear waters located in the northern area of Kauai, in Princeville.
Some locals do not recommend to go to this place because they say it is a very dangerous. In fact, when you arrive to Queen’s Bath you find this signal.
I have been there twice: the first time I did not swim because the ocean was very fierce, but on the second occasi, n I did jump in the pool.
My experience at Queen’s Bath
The first time I went with a friend. We left our car in the residential area of Princeville and started our walk. The road is easy; it is a descendant dirt road, quite slippery if it has rained.
Shortly before arriving at the height of the sea, we found a waterfall, where I saw a girl who was taking a picture with her leg up, the same picture that I get everywhere! LOL
I was very excited, so I started a conversation with her. In the end, she told me that she was a dancer, that is why she took that kind of photos.
I took the same picture as her.
Shortly after, we reached the rocky area with a couple of trees with powerful roots. Right in front of the sea; my little inner monkey asked me to play for a while, so I climbed a tree to please her! haha
As you arrive here, if the ocean is rough, I do not recommend continuing; the day I went the ocean was quite choppy, but it was not dangerous, so I decided to continue. However, when I returned someone told me that a couple just had a mishap. They were soaked with water and blood and with no shoes.
During summer it’s supposed to be safe, but in winter the waves can be huge, covering the entire area of rocks, taking with them all those who are in the area.
So I turned to the left, walking on the rocks in search of the baths of the queen.
Upon arrival, I found this beautiful natural pool, connected to the ocean, which receives fresh water.
When I arrived the water was more or less calm, but knowing that the ocean moves by cycles, we decided to wait to see what was really going on before getting into the water and, good that we waited!
Suddenly the waves were getting huge, so we had to turn away until the beginning of the rocks on the far side of the sea.
We stayed there for a while watching the ocean. It’s so powerful!
When the sea calmed down, I went back to the pool and took out a video doing one of my favorite asanas. 😄
When we arrived again at the starting point, we went to explore the other side.
We saw another pool, but we didn’t’ swim either because the waves were still very strong, so we returned to the car.
During my second visit, the pool was much calmer and it was gorgeous, so I jumped into the water. It was cool!
So, going back to the initial topic, it is true that it is a dangerous area if the sea is moved, so if you do not see it clearly, do not go forward. Think that you have to return and that the sea changes its ferocity in a matter of seconds.
But, if the sea is calm and you are a more or less athletic, just watch out for the sea and then there is no problem.
