On Sunday May 14th my brother and I went to Benirras Beach, located in the north of Ibiza.
We wanted to enjoy in person the famous festival of drums in Benirras so, although it was a little late (it was roughly 7 pm), we decided to give it a try.
Long before reaching the beach we thought we would have to turn around and come back without having seen anything; there were many cars parked along the road and many others looking for a gap.
We decided to relax, enjoy the music and drive till the end.
Upon arrival we discovered that, at the beach, there were still some spots available, so we parked the car and we headed to the beach.
After less than two minutes walking, we already started to feel the magical atmosphere of the place.
At the entrance to the beach we found the markets of Ibiza.
We decided to stop and see the handicrafts.
I always feel attracted to markets. There are so many colors!
After wandering around for a while, we headed towards the sand.
Benirras is a very nice beach; it is sheltered by cliffs on both sides and surrounded by greenery. In the midst of the sea, we can see Cap Bernat islet.
We walked to the left side of the beach, where a group of hippies were playing drums.
Apparently this “party” appeared long time ago extemporaneously by a group of hippies, and today has become quite an event that attracts thousands of tourists from all over the world.
The truth is that the atmosphere there is great; barefoot people, dancing to drums, carefree, enjoying life… it is magical!
After a while we went to the other side of the beach and we climb up the cliffs to get the full view of the beach.
We sat there for a while, in silence, listening to the sound of drums. But I had too much inner energy, and when there is music my body is dying to move, so I got up and I started dancing! haha
We finished our night at the beach, with the smell of the sea, under dyed sky full of different colors and surrounded by a very special atmosphere.
A wonderful experience!
