Where to do yoga in Kauai

07/05/2016 By Neyu

I did not have the chance to do many yoga in Kauai because I did not get to stay there for long and I decided to make the best of my time there exploring and sightseeing.

I only got to try three centers of yoga in Kauai though, all of them located in the north of Kauai.

My experience doing yoga in Kauai

I enjoyed and I learned in each class of yoga in Kauai, but overall what I did not like is that the rooms are very small, thus limiting my freedom of movement.

I’ve always been doing yoga outdoor or in open spaces, never in a room, so that was challenging for me: I could not enjoy 100% of the sessions because I wasn’t able to clear my mind and focus only on my own practice.

Here are my experiences in the three centers I went to.

Metamorphose Yoga Studio

This small center is located in Kilauea. It was my favorite. The best place to do yoga in Kauai!

Yoga Kauai

They offer variety of yoga styles for all levels.

From Monday through Thursday they offer three different classes (at 8:00, 10:00 and 18:00). On Fridays and Saturdays they only offer two morning sessions and Sundays it’s reduced to a single session at 10:00.

Visit their website for updated schedules.

The price to attend one class is 18$, but they also offer packages (5 classes for 75$ and 10 classes for 130$).

They have several instructors, but I could only go the class of Tulasi, a lovely instructor who made me forget for a while that I was in a small room.

At the end of the class I chatted with her for a while. I explained my problems with lack of concentration when performing yoga in rooms with little space and I liked the point of view she shared with me, seeing the bright side, showing me that in a room there is a different flow of energy.

The class I attended was a dynamic flow but not very intensive, for an hour and a half. I really enjoyed that Tulasi adapted the class for all levels, giving simpler and more complex options.

Yoga Kauai

At the end of class they offer free tea for all participants.

If you do not have mat, you can use theirs.

I also had the pleasure of meeting Astell, another instructor there, though I could not attend any of her classes.

The center is also a boutique that sells clothing, mats, malas and jewelry, yoga, meditation and philosophy books, Tibetan bowls, incense, etc.

Yoga Kauai

If you love yoga, stop by this center. You will like it!

Oh, and after the class I recommend drinking one of the juices and/or elixirs from Kauai Juice Co; the store right next-door.

I tried the Spring Break (cucumber, pineapple, kale, cilantro and ginger) and the Orange Crush (pineapple, carrot and turmeric).

All juices contain only local and organic products. They are very healthy and the taste is delicious.

Princeville Yoga

It is a very small room in the Princeville Shopping Center.

In this center there are two different options; Bikram Yoga and Hot Power Yoga.

I didn’t go to any of the Bikram yoga classes, so I can’t give you any information. If you are interested, take a look on their website.

I tried the Hot Power Yoga class; Lulu, the instructor is a girl full of energy. What I like

d is the ability she has to motivate you during class. A good class to sweat, detoxify and burn energy to electrify the body and mind.

Yoga Kauai

The price for one session is 20$. If you buy a pack of 5 sessions, it costs 70$ and 10 sessions pack goes for 125$.

If you plan to stay for a long period, then you have the monthly option for 125$ with unlimited classes.

I highly recommend you Lulu’s class if you’re a little stressed; You’ll notice that you have a more balanced energy within after the session.

Visit her website and join her classes!

Yoga Hanalei

This center, located in Hanalei offers 5 classes daily (7:00, 8:15, 10:15, 12:00 and 17:30), although on Saturdays they just offer 2 sessions and on Sunday 4.

Yoga Kauai

You’ll find a variety of styles: Hatha, Hatha Flow, Vinyasa Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Meditation, Patanjali’s Ashtanga Yoga, Pranayama and Yogika Philosophy and Psychology.

They also offer yoga TTC.

The price for one session is 20$. The pack of 5 sessions costs 65$ and the 10, 120$. If you pay the entire month, then the price is 180$ (take a look on their website because they offer different discounts).

I tried a class of Hatha Flow Level 2 (I think the name of the instructor was Melisa). It was good, but I think it was too easy for level 2. Anyway, if you already know your body and your practice, you can always adapt with your own modifications to suit to your level.

After the class they also offer free tea at the shop, where they also sell all kinds of yoga-related products.

For more information, visit their website.

Yoga Kauai

There are many more centers and I also found that there are also yoga sessions outdoor, like Kauai Yoga on the Beach.

If I had known before I would have tried some of those!

Well, I will not complain, I enjoyed several sessions of yoga on the beach with my friend Sandy.

Yoga Kauai

Let us all go and practice yoga! 😉

Love and gratitude
